Hair Fall Epidemic: Javed Habib Reveals the Common Hair Oil Mistake Millions Continue to Make
Hair fall is becoming increasingly common among both men and women. Renowned hair expert Javed Habib has revealed a common mistake people make while applying hair oil that may contribute to hair loss. He explains the correct method of oil application, warns against overnight oiling, and highlights the role of nutrition, sleep, and stress management in maintaining healthy hair.
Renowned hair expert Javed Habib has identified what he describes as a major mistake that people have been making for years, which may be contributing to hair fall. According to Habib, most individuals apply oil to completely dry hair, leave it on for several hours or overnight, and then wash it off with shampoo the following morning. He says this approach is fundamentally incorrect.
Explaining the science behind hair care, Habib noted that oil does not work effectively when applied to dry hair. He pointed out that shampoos, conditioners, and soaps are always used on wet hair, raising the question of why hair oil is commonly applied to dry hair instead.
Habib recommended a different method for oil application. He advised lightly wetting the hair first and then applying mustard oil or any preferred hair oil along the length of the hair. He emphasized that there is no need to rub the oil aggressively into the roots and specifically advised against massaging the scalp. The oil should be left on for five to ten minutes before washing the hair with a regular shampoo.
According to Habib, this process can be followed daily if desired. He stated that applying oil to damp hair helps keep hair clean and strong while also reducing hair fall. He explained that oil adheres more effectively to wet hair and helps protect the hair’s protein structure during shampooing. This method also prevents excessive scalp dryness, which may reduce dandruff and hair breakage.
Habib further warned against the common habit of applying oil at night and leaving it in the hair while sleeping. He advised people to change this practice immediately. He also cautioned against delaying hair washing for two to three days after oil application, stating that such habits can damage hair over time.
While discussing hair care, Habib stressed that oil alone cannot solve hair-related problems. He highlighted the importance of maintaining proper nutrition, getting adequate sleep, and managing stress levels, all of which play a critical role in overall hair health.
As hair fall continues to affect a growing number of people, Habib’s recommendations challenge several long-standing hair care habits. His advice underscores the importance of proper application techniques and broader lifestyle factors in maintaining healthy, strong hair and reducing unnecessary hair loss.
